Hey all,
I'm pretty new on this forum, altough I have been reading alot.
I just got a 2006 mini cooper s convertible which had an accident at a really low price.
But the problem is that the roof doesn't open, the light of the button even don't light up. I already checked the fuses, and they are ok...
Now I looked inside the trunk, and I have found a loose cable on both side with on both of them some broken glass attached to them.. Does anyone know if these have anything to do with the roof ? Or does anyone have another possible solution ?
Greetings

Because of all the interlocks which control the roof opening, there are a few basics to start with:
1) is the rear parcel shelf in the lower position and correctly engaging the pressure switches which it rests on?
2) are the locks which allow you to open the top of the Boot locked in their closed position and engaging the interlock (though a small door beside the lock)?
3) is the engine running, with the gearbox out of gear?
As for the wires with the glass attached, my guess would be that they were the wires for the heated rear screen and the rear window had been broken at some time and not replaced with a window with a heating element.

Hey man, thanx for your fast response...
The rear parcel shelf is not in the trunk, but i heard that it didn't had to be seated to open the roof untill the sunroof position, and it doesn't even goes to the sunroof position, just as if the roof is dead, no movement whatsoever..
Or am I wrong, and should the parcel shelf always be seated in the trunk ?

I tried everything, and everything seems to be ok, but the roof just doesn't move an inch. The buttons even don't light up like the buttons next to it for the rear windows when the lights are on in the dark.. Anyone has some ideas ?, It looks like these buttons don't get any power...

my roof some times works no problem, however some time it opens but will not close from the fully retracted position. I have made sure the micro switch on the parcel shelf is fully engaged, I have tried resetting the system by holding the central locking switch in the open position but nothing works. Until it decides to close this might be hours later. The whole roof mechanism seems to just die, would be good to find a solution:o
