Hello all,
Just after a bit of advice on alloys for the GP.
I am looking to get a second set of alloys for my GP for track use so that i will not destroy expensive run flats and i was wondering if i had to get 18's or if some standard mini cooper s 17's would do the job.
Thank you
Joe

You don't have to go for 18s - as long as the new wheels fit over the JCW calipers. If I were you I'd look non oem as they're lighter = less unsprung weight = better ;)

OEM = wheels made by mini, or whoever make the car you own.
Try team dynamics, rota etc...

Speak to these guys:
Alloy Wheels - Mini Torque (http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f625/)
Rare Rims supplied our Time Attack wheels (see pic attached) which are both very light and very strong and they'll do you a cracking deal too on anything in the Rota range. The Time Attack car has the same brakes as yours and runs 17x7.5 Rota Boost alloys so these will fit yours too. In terms of tyre's, if you're just using these for track days then the Toyo R888's are just superb.

for track use you wonna be using 17" or smaller - 18s are heavy and less accurate

For the GP I got 15x7 wheels for track days they are 15x7 ET35 Motegi TrakLites 2. Although wheelweights.com says they are 10.3, I weighed them at the US Post Office at 9.9lbs.
