: Modding is a drug 55JWB Nov 24th, 2009, 08:57 PM Could not help myself, ordered 4x silver indicator bulbs, new pedals and a JCW strut brace from Genuine MINI Parts - Genuine MINI Parts and Accessories Direct! (http://www.minigenuineparts.co.uk) still have my eye on Cooper S filler cap ;) J Craig123 Nov 24th, 2009, 10:43 PM will the JCW strut brace definatly fit the mini dooper?
if so im getting on it! 55JWB Nov 25th, 2009, 04:20 AM Been told yes but have asked them to double check, hope to hear today.... I have seen mention to two versions, a 'straight' one and a 'curved' one aimed at accomodating the uprated JCW Airbox, I am hoping the curved one will fit what I think is the 'higher' diesel engine.... caveman_dave Nov 25th, 2009, 08:42 AM Re Strut brace, I was told that it does say in dealer notes that it is not suitable for Dooper. Both Forge and OMG do one specifically for Dooper.
As for modding, yes its a drug and I am hooked.
So far,
16" wheels
Tints
Bonnet stripes
Spot lamps
MFSW...ouch
bee sting aerial
mud flaps
MU50 mirrorcaps and side scuttles
MINI 50 grille badge
Leather seats
And there will be more as soon as I find the money, next strut brace, lowering, remap and Forge intercooler. Craig123 Nov 25th, 2009, 06:24 PM 55JWB - if/when they get back too you if you could let me know what they say regarding the strut brace that would be awesome.
Caveman Dave, your car sounds sweet dude,
Mr Mini phoned today saying my dooper will be here before xmas so im going to try and get a strut brace before then, after reading up on it lots on here it sounds like they are a great idea
I've heard of Forge before but who is OMG? do they have a website? 55JWB Nov 25th, 2009, 06:52 PM Yeah, not the news I wanted and confirmation of what some already knew, it won't fit! I got an apology but not much consolation :(
my mods so far are:-
JCW 18" 105 Burnished alloys
OEM mud flaps all round
led internal lights
led plate lights
Blackjack side scuttles
on order
silver indicators
full pedal and footrest replacement
very soon
JCW lowering springs
JCW antiroll bars
It's a bug ;-) caveman_dave Nov 25th, 2009, 07:47 PM I've heard of Forge before but who is OMG? do they have a website?
Typo,,,should have read OMP

JCW lowering springs
JCW antiroll bars

Not sure that you can fit JCW springs on standard dampers + they are expensive. Lohen and Costal both offer fitted options at very good prices. I am going for the Eibach set up after Xmas.
You will probably get a good deal on lowering and roll bars
lohen.co.uk - Track & Fast Road Performance for your New Mini - Online Shop (http://www.lohen.co.uk/shop/products.php?cat=75) 55JWB Nov 25th, 2009, 08:18 PM The full set of JCW springs, dampers and roll bars front and rear are around £690 by the look of it sameish as loen springs and dampers... Will see what happens in Jan sales ;) Craig123 Nov 25th, 2009, 08:52 PM 55JWB - do 18" alloys fit on nicely? is there any body work mods involved?
i bet your minis are well sexy guys. rock on. 55JWB Nov 25th, 2009, 08:55 PM The 18's are fine and would look better lower, on iPhone at moment so tricky to post pics, if my gallery obvious then you will find some there ;) 55JWB Dec 5th, 2009, 06:58 AM Had a quick look in office car park at indicator bulb replacement, rear seems tight and fiddley :( also did see some pedal replacement instructions somewhere on web but now can't find them, only tricky one likely to be accelorator pedal...
Will take some pics later as i should get it done today... Craig123 Dec 5th, 2009, 07:35 PM still searching for the right strut brace for me lol, also looking at some anti roll bars ect,
she gets here in a few weeks, cant wait!
i love the look of those alcantara JCW sports seats, if i found 2k in the street tomorrow i'd have a set! M.O.S Dec 6th, 2009, 02:44 AM still searching for the right strut brace for me lol, also looking at some anti roll bars ect,

M7 make a good strut brace... Good value for money too! Can be bought from fomsport.com, coastal racing, and mini motorsport centre (although they tend to be pricey ;) ) 55JWB Dec 7th, 2009, 07:51 AM I have a few pics, sorry I did not have time for installtion style ones...
Pedals were very, very easy to sort and I think make a nice difference when you first open the driverside door;)
Front indicators were fairly easy, just turn the wheels lock to lock and gain access through the panels in the wheel arch..
Rears were very cramped and very tight and although I dont have small hands they are not massive and certainly not chubby! if they were, I think it would have been very tricky to get your hand in, turn and unlock the bulb housing and then get them back in again...
Pics are not ideal but give you a rough idea ;)
In the front facing one, its the left one that has been replaced and the right is OEM...

How have the 18's effected your turning radius? Noticeable or not really? 55JWB Jan 12th, 2010, 10:19 AM I cant answer that as I had them upgraded from new so never ran on the 17's
I do think the car suffers a lot with 'tramlining' the slightest camber seems to snatch the steering one way or another... caveman_dave Jan 15th, 2010, 04:09 PM The full set of JCW springs, dampers and roll bars front and rear are around £690 by the look of it sameish as loen springs and dampers... JCW dampers and springs are £1210 inc vat and only lower the car by 10mm | |
