Just traded our R56 Cooper for a new One. Expected the One to be slower than the Cooper, but no! The one feels quicker and smoother than the Cooper was? How can this be?

Could have been just a tired Cooper :)

More likely, the Power Curve on the One could occur at a lower RPM and the gear ratios could be lower.

With this, the difference would be felt at higher speeds, perhaps higher than you normally drive.

yes I agree, maybe your cooper was knackered, you don't say much about it ??

I test drove the One and Cooper back to back in November before plumping for the Cooper as I thought the One was a bit breathless.
Are you running the One in and comparing the bottom of the rev range

For 120HP, I always thought the Cooper was slow (and noisy) right thro' the rev range.
Haven't taken the One above 4000rpm but defenitely feels better. Maybe there was a problem with the Cooper. It was mainly used for short motorway and town driving and had only done 17K.

The ONE cannot be quicker, look at the figures.

I can only assume that their was a problem with the Cooper you had. I never found mine to be slow, noisey or not smooth and had it for 25k miles.
