Hi
Bit of a first fo me on MINI2. Just bought a GP (not got delivery yet) but have been looking to buy a front strut brace. Seen on e-Bay a MCS R56? but told this will not fit my GP (which seemd to be a combination of R53/R56's). Looked at a Forge brace and some say fit other no fit.
I have seen the JCW all nice and crome but BMW MINI say there is not one for the GP!

Please any advice/recomedations or sellers.

thanks

Thanks GBMINI, My MINI stealer says it will not fit! I'll have to go and offer it up to the struts when I get the car. Funny people say they need a chassis number even to quote for an accessory seem reluctent to sell anything for a GP including the boot box.

Seen your web pages, great stuff (seen the brace in the photo for heated washers)

bentoby i have the john cooper works strutbrace on my gp and it fits perfectly, ignore what the dealer tells you, just order one for a standard r53 cooper s,and i promise you that it fits, and remember to get the extra nuts with the new brace, these will replace the ones already on the strut towers.

Hi Guys
Thanks for all the comments. I like the JCW's one but have decided to go for the m7 STB. This unit looks good and comes with the plate design that helps avoid mushrooming of the strut tower, and a reasonable price.

JCW is nice and good for the "Bling" but the m7 will look great.

Thanks again

Did you get the M7, eh fit?
Your dealer is a bit odd, if they think JCW bar does not fit.

Hi Guys. Not got the m7 yet but bought a used Forge on eBay. Just brought the GP home today so will see if that fits OK this weekend. I did like the black m7 with its demountable section to help servicing. I thought the benefit of the m7 and the Forge was the end plates to help prevent mushrooming caused by pot holes etc (lots of blab about pot holes on the forum). The plates arenice and thick. I have offered up the brace and I don't think there will be any probs with clearance and hood bulging.

It's my first BMW MINI and bringing it home today the drive has been b****y brillient a fantastic little car, a real dogs whatsits :biggrin:LOL. I also have one of the last Mini Coopers Sport (c.2000) and the two look great together in the garage. When the weathers better I get some pics on here.

For info, I was and still may get the m7 from "Carl Bradley - Coastal Racing"

Cheers

I bought a JCW one brand new off EBAY for £150. It states on his listing it didnt fit the GP. only JCW and MCS . i asked him to check as why no GP. he contacted JCW and it does fit the same. Its now on my car and looks good,a bit blingy but nice.... He now put the price up to £190 on ebay, now he knows it fits the GP( maybe?)...

Yes, I see that one £144 I thought but bought a Forge second hand (eBay) Chrome, nice and flat, has JCW Works on it £50. No probs you hear about bowing bonnets ect. does not crease the bonnet liner so all good.
The reason was as I said before was the strut plates just like the m7 (the JCW just had 3 little arms). These plates help stop strut mounts mushroomng and with all the blinking pot holes that are "breading" all over the UK I though worthwhile.
Still horses for courses as they say.

Bit of hike on the price from your seller - just cashing in I guess.
