: Too many choices!! moktabe Feb 11th, 2010, 04:27 PM Hi everyone....have a '57 plate MCS and like the idea of going down the tuning path. Not by any means an expert on tuning but which would be the best way to go? The two main options I see are a) JCW Kit fitted by dealer or b) a p-torque remap and Miltek exhaust.
Opinions would be much appreciated
Regards M.O.S Feb 11th, 2010, 04:36 PM JCW has the benefit off being manufacturer approved and won't invalidate your warranty. The p torque option will be cheaper though... Also have a word with 1320 as they're the best in the industry over here. moktabe Feb 11th, 2010, 05:10 PM Thanks for your reply. Warranty ends in December so would be looking more at efficiency of either upgrade.
Has anyone who reads this post had either upgrade?...If so, what do they think of the difference after having it done?
Many thanks in anticipation:biggrin: witches70 Feb 11th, 2010, 10:10 PM I had e remap yesterdat at P Torque, and the difference is amazing, believe me for 345 quid you wont dissapointed. Im also gonna have Milltek down pipein a couple of weeks time, thats 400 quid, so for basically 750 you go from 175 hp to 235-240, that will then be a rocket ship. I cant praise P Torque enough, the car is now amzing to drive. You can spend extra money on the whole exaust system, but that will only get you another 5hp, so either just remap or both will do the trick. cklubbies Feb 12th, 2010, 02:15 AM oooh.... sounds good !!
I'm booked in for just over a weeks time for the upgrade too...
If I'm that impressed I could be tempeted by a down pipe as the
next "must have".
Just shows that the standard system can't be THAT restrictive if
we are talking 5bhp gain... (excluding down pipe)
I'm looking forward to it I have to say !! Performance_Torque Feb 12th, 2010, 12:16 PM Hi Guys
We carry out alot of R56 upgrades with the standard cat-back in place.
Its ideal for those who want a stealthy look, and of course it works out cheaper.
The P-Torque Software upgrade and downpipe package is £745.00 all in and includes:
Milltek Downpipe
P-Torque dyno tuning
Dyno power runs before and after tuning with print out
All labour and fitting
Power with the above kit is approx 235hp and 260lbs/ft torque.
If you have any questions, please ask :) Performance_Torque Feb 12th, 2010, 12:20 PM I had e remap yesterdat at P Torque, and the difference is amazing, believe me for 345 quid you wont dissapointed. Great to hear you are happy with the results so far!
More to come though :D witches70 Feb 12th, 2010, 03:25 PM It also sounds better to now, as with the extra boost and more power its making the itg sound better. Filled up with t99 last night, thats gonna help also. Look forward to visiting you again in a couple of weeks. Maybe we could settle the bill over a game of pool??? Seriously people get on the phone to Will at P Torque, it will be the best move you will ever make. moktabe Feb 12th, 2010, 06:17 PM Have to say the P-Torque option re the remap and Miltek downpipe is looking favourable however, being totally clueless re engine tuning, I have a couple of questions.....
1) Exactly what does a remap entail? Does it alter turbo boost etc and are the long term effects not going to be detrimental to any engine parts? Have no wish to question anyones integrity but as I said clueless re tuning!!!
2) By going up to 240ish bhp is it problematic getting it down onto the road? Bit long in the tooth for traffic light races but more interested in mid range improvements.
Once again, many thanks in advance for any replies.... madjohn Feb 12th, 2010, 06:59 PM has anyone got up to 300bhp out of there R56 MCS ? moktabe Feb 13th, 2010, 07:06 PM ....anyhow, back to the tuning question..... witches70 Feb 13th, 2010, 10:39 PM cheeky boy!!!!!!! Had our R56 S remapped at P Torque, got 235bhp with 268ft lb torque with the Miltek downpipe and we're extreemly happy with the result.
Cannot prasie Will at P Torque enough!
Paul. witches70 Feb 15th, 2010, 10:23 PM Are you also running it on 99 ron fuel. or just normal 95? Whats it like to drive now, it it really as fast as i think its gonna be? i bet overtaking is now very easy in the higher gears. Im just waiting for my exhaust to be made as Milltek had to make a new batch, then its being done. Cant wait, and now reading your post i cant wait even more, i just hope its gonna be as good as i think it is. Thanks very much Paul :) Performance_Torque Feb 16th, 2010, 08:57 AM Are you also running it on 99 ron fuel. or just normal 95? Should hopefully have the downpipes in approx 1 week :) witches70 Feb 16th, 2010, 08:01 PM Good man, thanks for updating me..... witches70 Feb 20th, 2010, 11:28 AM I do hate waiting.............i wish i wasnt so impatient. Performance_Torque Feb 20th, 2010, 12:35 PM Hi!
Downpipes came in yesterday, so drop me an e-mail to info@p-torque.co.uk and I will arrange booking you in :D witches70 Feb 20th, 2010, 10:41 PM Email sent to you, i would like it fitted as soon as you can please, pretty please....... witches70 Feb 22nd, 2010, 09:41 PM Any idea when yet? i did say i was impatient, sorry. witches70 Feb 23rd, 2010, 05:12 PM Yeah!!!!!! March 4th baby...........seems like ages away to me. moktabe Mar 1st, 2010, 01:45 PM I actually spend alot of time in Suffolk as, although live elsewhere, I spend 20 days/nights a month there for work. Once your downpipe has been done I would appreciate, if you have time, to meet and let me have a look at your car and see the difference between the two. I am based in Newmarket witches70 Mar 1st, 2010, 04:20 PM yeah it shouldnt be a problem. Are you thinking of having it done then? It seems like you have quite a high spec car of your own. moktabe Mar 1st, 2010, 04:28 PM I think that's likely to be the next thing done to the car. The brakes have been sorted and the car has been lowered to improve the handling. Ideally coil-overs will be fitted somewhere down the line. witches70 Mar 1st, 2010, 04:37 PM i dont thik i will bother with anything suspension wise, as seems ok as it is, you could spend thousands on changing things. I just want the extra power as my previous car was more powerful, and i always seem to get stuck behind people going slowly, so its for overtaking really, and the roads are pretty twisty where i live so you need to get past quick. Oh yeah, plus i like going fast on my private road/driveway. But if i want to go really fast, ijust get my motorbike out the garage. moktabe Mar 1st, 2010, 04:44 PM If you would, let me know when you've had it done and we will see what we can sort out...and I agree that spending on them can be a never ending thing!! witches70 Mar 1st, 2010, 04:55 PM Well its being done this thursday, then i will can sort something out. cyrilsiou Mar 6th, 2010, 10:12 AM Hi, I had a Milltek downpipe and P-torque remap done on my 07 MCS last week. Will is a really nice and knowledgeable guy. This has transformed the car. It is so much more responsive and the torque is unbelievable throughout the range. I'm getting 234bhp and 255lbs/ft. I had an Impreza wrx before this and I can honestly say that on a dry b-road the MCS is at least as quick.
I can't recommend Will enough. For the price (£745) I can't think of a better tuning upgrade.
Kind Regards
Cyril witches70 Mar 6th, 2010, 12:18 PM Well i have had mine done, but i had the full exhaust system and im now getting 240hp and 282ft of torque. Apart from thr journey home havent had a real chance of giving it a blast about yet. Already though i have started driving around with the window down as it sounds so much better with the new system. Its not chavvy at all, its just nice a and deep. Will do a better report on the engine improvements soon, but on first impressions, it now pulls like a train in any gear at any speed. Thanks to Will at P torque, he has yet again done a brilliant job. Highly recommend you use his services. They also gave me a courtesy car so i could go of shopping in the local mall. Thanks again. | |
