: Throttle delay

Hi all

I picked up my 2007 MC last week and I'm very happy with it. One thing that's taking a bit of getting used to is the delay in the throttle response. For example, on the motorway in 6th when gently accelerating there can be a second's delay between pressing the pedal and the car actually picking up. It's also noticeable to a lesser extent around town. I just wanted to check that this is normal? I don't have a Sport button or any mods.

Thanks,
Ian

Turbo lag?

I dunno cuz my 2002 MCS has a supercharger

It's a bog standard Cooper, so no turbo :)

It might well be that this is just how it is - I've never driven a car with a fly-by-wire throttle before. The lag just seems counterintuitive...

Try Sprint Booster. Put it on my MC works like a charm.

I might well try that in the future, just wanted to check that what I'm getting now is what I should expect without a Sport button or Sprint Booster :)

A Sprint Booster will fix your delay issue guaranteed.

The throttle-by-wire has no delay. One second between pressing the accelerator pedal and the engine responding is excessive. This is not normal. I would let a dealer look at it.

The Sprint Booster fools the computer into thinking you have pressed the accelerator pedal harder by altering the potentiometer readings from the pedal. Some people like the extra responsiveness this gives (very similar to the Sport button). If pressing the accelerator pedal harder solves your problem, then the SB will also. If, no matter how hard you mash, there is still a delay, the SB will not help.
