Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased my Mini Cooper second hand. Last week the car started overly revving even when my foot was off the gas, almost to the red line. I left the car overnight and drove it again for about a week with no problems. However, last night the car has come up with EP in the display where the P, D and R letters used to be. I understand this is an emergency programme mode which limits the RPM?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone had this problem or similar problems with their CVT transmission? What was the solution? Also if you could give me an idea about costings that would be great.

I am based in London so if anyone knows of any reasonably priced mini specialists please let me know

Thank you!

Take it in as soon as possible. The worst thing you can do with a CVT is drive it until it breaks down. The units can't be fixed, they have to be replaced and it is extremely expensive. Yours may already be at that point, but since it still seems to be working the situation may not be that serious.
