: Vibrating Mirror

Hi All

Has anyone noticed their rear view mirror virbating slightly? I have been noticing mine doing it at speeds above about 50mph and when looking into it number plates and cars are blurred. I know this is probably a minor gripe but I find it gives me a headache looking into it.

I just wondered if anyone else has this issue?

Cheers.

Yeah seemed like a common proble,, had it in the car i test drove, thankfully not in my own, search the forums think one guy insisted on them replacing the mirror and they did.

My car is an April 09 build with 14,000 miles on the clock and the mirror does not vibrate.

I thought it was vibrating because I put the union jack cover on it.... Oh Well :D

Hi, yes, I've noticed it too - looking into the rearview at the variable speed limit signs on the motorway can be a very trippy (not in a good way) experience! Mine's still under the TLC package but I bought it second hand and haven't used the package yet - will it cover this?

Well, you won't believe this, but Mini UK are aware of this issue, but as yet, there is no solution! I had mine looked at and this is what I was told. I also contacted Mini themselves and they told me that BMW Technicians in Germany are working on a solution, but as yet there isn't one! It's hardly rocket science is it.

I will let you know once I hear back as they told me that they would contact me once a fix is found :)

Yep mine does it - I complained when the car went in last year for service. They agreed and said they would order me a new mirror - I am still waiting for new mirror. Interesting to see that there is no solution as yet - I might have to try solving it myself.

I've just had my Dooper serviced, mentioned this as I have had this problem, they said they checked it and couldn't fault the mirror, but it is definitely happening!

Raised this yesterday when booking car in for service - the service advisor says they have some special packing to resolve this. Will see what happens after they have tried this fix.

Update - they don't have any padding for this and as yet don't have a fix. :frown:

Mine too also vibrates, but that is also because I have my music loud!

Anyone have any updates on this issue, is this occurring on all Mini Coopers D ?

I have the auto-dimming mirror, if I try to touch the mirror when it happens is does appear to stop it, so it appear to be related to some vibration frequency when driving 50 mph or above.

I would like this fixed, but don't see the point in taking it in to BMW if there is no fix available.

Mine still does it yes, and when I last spoke to Mini they said that no fix was available yet!

If I hold mine, it stops it too :)

Hi,

I mentioned this to my dealer, and they said it's normal,
especially with the mirror with the light sensor in it, but did say if it was excessive they can put some weights in the mirror.

One thing I have noticed after driving about four different loan diesel Minis, is they all did it, under slightly different conditions, but it was noticeable to me on all of them.

Hope that helps.

Any updates on this issue?

Had my Dooper Convertible 2 weeks now and the vibration is really noticible. I had this in my Corsa Diesel but it was very minor and didnt bother me. Driving into work yesterday I looked in the mirror and the red traffic light behind me looked like it was doing circles - and I was on a flat road.

Wondered if anyone had any comeback from the dealers before I go back to mine.
