Hello everyone, I was seeing if anyone had some advice when looking at 2003-2004 Mini Coopers? I'm looking at 2 of them, one is red and the other British Racing Green. Both are 5 speeds. The green one has the sunroof, red doesnt. The green one is the 2003, with 89k miles, while the red one is a 04 with 59k miles.

Is there anything I should pay close attention to before buying?

Are there certain problems in those 2 years to be worried about?

Just trying to make sure I make the best choice possible for my budget. Thanks.

A Cooper model built July 2004 onward will have a Getrag transmission rather than the problematic Midlands unit.

Is the midlands 5 speed or 6 speed? as my 2003 mcs is a 6 speed? what gearbox would this be?

The MCS has always had a getrag box.

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely make sure I look at the transmission. Also, is there anything that I should look at to make sure it's not about to go out? In otherwords, Is there anything that maybe should have been replaced or fixed that isn't that has the tendency to go out?

The power steering pump has a tendency to go out.
