: Cooper S suspension on a Cooper?

Hi all,

Just a quick question - is the suspension set up (just the springs and struts really) from a Cooper S compatible with a 2001 Cooper? If so, do I need any extra fitting parts or do I need to mod to fit (trim things away etc)?

And what about the suspension set up from a JCW?

Any advice welcome.

Thanks.

I believe the difference between the Cooper's base suspension and the Cooper S's base suspension are rear swaybars. The Cooper may not have one.

The Cooper (at least in Canada) could be optioned with the Sport Suspension, which was standard on the Cooper S in the US. The Cooper S in Canada came with Sport Suspension Plus, which had a 17mm rear swaybar.

The JCW suspension came with slightly stiffer and lower springs, and shock absorbers. I believe it retained the 17mm swaybar.

That was for R50/R53 MINIs. If I am wrong here, please somebody correct me.

Thx.

Suspension and brakes changed in March 2002. The new bits don't fit on a 2001 model. Check the minimania website in the US. They sometimes have 2001 suspension and brake upgrades at bargain prices.
