Monte Carlo Rallying legend, and one of the original ‘Flying Finns’, Rauno Aaltonen will drive the MINI E Race up the hill at Goodwood.

The Festival will be the first in the UK to host the appearance of the MINI E Race, a modified race-equipped version of the emissions-free MINI currently undergoing road trials in the UK, USA and Germany.

The MINI E Race made its public debut at the Nurburgring in May when it covered several laps of the challenging 20.8 km Nordschleife driven by Thomas Jäger, 2006 MINI Challenge Champion. Jaeger managed a lap in 9 minutes 51.4 seconds and achieved a top speed of 117mph on the sinuous Eifel tarmac.

Was at Goodwood Festival of Speed yesterday, had a fantastic time and of course visited the Mini stand. Had a good look over the new Countryman, which to me looks even better in the flesh that it does in magazine pictures, it looks quite chunky but there is defintely lots more room, and of course you have two rear doors.
I am sure the other Mini's on the stand were the new 2011 models with revised front and rear lights the biggest giveaway.
Watching the Mini E going up the Goodwood Hill Climb was cool.

Some pictures (not mine) of Rauno Aaltonen at Goodwood yesterday, a Mini legend driving the latest in MINI technology up the hill, but bizarre to 'hear' a silent race MINI!
