Popped in to my local dealers 'mini event ' this weekend browsing for a new generation mcs . After a fabulous test drive, I returned happy and willing to buy. Then spent what felt like weeks scanning a computer screen with gum chewing salesman to narrow down on choices avaiable. Then the nitty gritty - part exchange offered for my 52 plate 68K mils top spec mcs was a measly £4,500 ! Then the black 58 plate that they had supplied details of and I had set my heart on , had to be shipped up from London had mysteriosly been sold 2 hours earlier ! What a complete waste of time !! I left empty handed , they missed out on a sale !
Is trade slow at the moment ? Should I hold out for a better PX value ? Anyone know where to go and get a good deal for my money ? What's the wish list of colours/ extras to look for ? Went straight to the audi dealership afterwards and testing a TT on Friday. Decisions.... decisions !!!

I would try selling private. Don't forget a Mini is a desirable car and a top spec model won't take long to shift. I love my R56 Cooper S and I wouldn't swap it for anything less than a M3 (Which is what I owned before!)

My advice, sell yours private and find a different dealer or private seller. Don't bother with a TT! MINI FTW!

don't forget. 4.5K for a 52 plate is still far more than you would get for a similar spec car of a different marque.
As its a Super charged old model they tend not to be sold on by dealers, but direct to trade. You wont find many pre 56 cherished cars apart from Convertibles.

While it's a bummer that the car you wanted had been sold from under you, the PX price is what I would've expected... Darren's post above raises two good points on the subject.

You might be able to wrangle an extra £500 for your car, or £500 discount on whatever you buy, but I wouldn't hold out for much more than that.

And unless you're looking at the TT RS, I'd suggest reconsidering MINI... ;)

Seriously though, there have been several members of this forum who've swapped their MINI for a TT, then swapped back within a relatively short space of time... although that's probably more about people loving the MINI than disliking the Audi, given that plenty of us have left the fold for various marques over the years, then returned shortly after. :D
