I am looking into strut braces for my One Conv and have come across alot of material on the subject. I am wondering if i can get some definative answers here please.

1)Is it worth me paying around £260 for the gtt upper brace over the upper and lower OMP ones for less than half of that? (Im only intending it for road use.)

2)Iv heard OMP ones can do something called mushrooming to your car and would like to know what this is :)?

3)If you could reccomend a better suited strut brace for me i would apreciate it or opinions on those 2

Thanks in advance Adam.

Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong place however non of the others seemed to fit.
Moving it to First Generation Suspension ;)

Hitting a pot hole hard can mushroom (deform) the strut towers but I've never heard of a brace doing it.

OMP Brace has only 2 connection points (of 3 possible) on each strut tower, so it can't really prevent mushrooming. JCW, GTT and almost any other brace have 3 points so they keep together all 3 bolts and slightly decrease chance of mushrooming. However if you really want to keep your strut towers flat, you need to install reinforcements plates inside the tower.

I just purchased a strut reinforcement bar/brace set from VIP Custom Parts. They seem to be thicker than most other Brands out there. because I own a cabrio and I felt it would help stiffen things up and help prevent the mushrooming. You can find more information on their website. VIP Custom Parts Mini, Mini Cooper, Mini Convertible, Mini Cooper S parts page (http://www.vipcustomparts.com/minicooperparts.htm)
