I,ve just been looking at the warranty direct website, having a convertible and thinking about roof wear issues,it says bodywork, trim, upholstery, glass, paint, sunroof components, panels, wheels and tyres are excluded from their cover. It looks like taking warranty cover will be a waste of money cos i,m sure that they would say the roof is excluded from cover.

I would agree, and they will not cover wear and tear.

these warranties usually have numerous clauses that in actual fact means that very little ends up being covered.

Looks like they know about the faults with mini convertibles and adjusted the small print accordingly, cos roofs would be the most common and expensive claim.Or am I just paranoid?

My Sidewalk is 3 years old in September - with only 8000 miles on the clock.

I am taking out a MINI extended warranty when the time comes. I have been told the mechanical apparatus of the roof is covered with the MINI warranty - but I doubt whether they will cover the fabric.
