My daughter bought a 2003 automatic Mini Friday evening. Everything worked and seemed to be a great car. Now, Sunday morning, the tachometer does not register rpms, the AC isn't cooling and the transmission seems to be stuck in low. I am new to Minis and don't have much knowledge about them. Is there a sensor that the tach and transmission computer use to function? I am quessing here, but it might seem logical. Also, could that same sensor cause the AC to suddenly not cool? Maybe a computer logic safety feature preventing the use of the AC to prevent overheating?
The good news, I hope, is that the used car dealer the sold her the Mini is coming to get it Monday morning to see what is going on with it. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Thanks.

Update: I let the Mini cool down for a few hours and it now behaves as it should. I think I know what triggered the behavior. Your input would be appreciated.
The morning after my daughter bought the Mini, the Service Engine Soon light came on. She had filled it up the night before with 89 octance fuel, so I thought the low octance might be causing the light to come on. I connected my OBDD II AutoScanner this morning to read the codes, but could not communicate with the Mini. So, I thought maybe I did not have the key in the ON position, started the Mini and tried to read the codes again. I could not communicate with the Mini, but then noticed that the Tach was not registering and the Service Engine Soon light was off. So, I took it for a drive around the block. That is when I noticed that the AC was not cooling and the transmission seemed to be stuck in low and I could not go into its Sport mode.
Now, the Mini is fine, but still has the Service Engine Soon light on. I am going to research the compatibility of the OBD II AutoScanner to the Mini. Does Mini not conform to the OBD II standard?
