Hi Everyone. Just rejoined this great site:)

Question; Can anyone explain why my Mini One has an extra exhaust mount?

Just to the rear of the exhausts main front mounting plate is another bracket comprising of two large bushes with bolts, clamped to the pipe but not attached to the chassis in anyway.?:puzzled:

I have just had a new exhaust fitted and I watched the guys remove this from the old exhaust and fit it to the new one! Also they had to remove the rear mounts from the chassis which were hooks (?) and replace with the D shaped rubbers that were supplied with the new one.

Mine is september 2001 build btw

This is the exhaust and mounting diagram for Sep 2001 on RealOEM.com:

The parts diagram calls them 'vibration absorbers' so maybe they are tuned dampers to reduce noise/vibration rather than mountings?

Thanks guys for the info.:)

The diagram explains it. Looks like the very early ones (up to 9/2001) carried this "damper". As the car now has the later type rear mounts installed It will probably be best to remove it altogether.

Cheers.
