Hi all,

As you all know, BMW changed the suspension from March 2002 onwards, making it very difficult for the early cars (June 01 to March 02) to get spare parts.

And sods law I need to replace the front suspension on my 01. So I am wondering, is there any way to put 02-06 suspension on a 01 car at all? If so, how?

Thanks.

Using the part numbers for front struts on RealOEM (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=RC32&mospid=48010&btnr=31_0594&hg=31&fg=10) I was able to price them online here (http://www.cooper-mini-parts.co.uk/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&sku=31306759245&Search=+Go&page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&option=com_virtuemart). You should be able to get the appropriate springs from a dealer.

Having had a look around, I think in order to fit 02-06 suspension on 01, I would need to change two things - top mounts and drop links. Is this right?

Or is it the ARB itself rather than the drop links?

And also does anyone know how to visually tell the difference between 01 and 02-06 top mounts please?
