Hi,
My first post and its a question... sorry about that...

I currently drive a Clio 172 Cup. Ive had it for 6 years and its getting a bit dog eared so time for a change.

This got me thinking about a JCW. I want something fun, with personality that I can keep for a few years without losing too much money. The JCW seems to tick all the boxes.

Before I step up the search I thought Id ask a few questions from the experts...

How are they reliability wise? Are they capable of decent miles without any major attention?
Are there any big expensive services to factor in when working out whats a good deal and what isnt?
Is there anything I should be looking for in particlular (known faults etc.)
And finally, what could I get for around the 9K mark.
Does the charger require any special maintenance? Will it need a rebuild at any point?

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome. :)

This R50/R53 buyers guide (http://www.motoringfile.com/mini-r50r53-buyers-guide) should prove pretty useful, and will answer a lot of your questions.

Check out PistonHeads Classifieds (http://www.pistonheads.com/sales) or the the MINI2 Classifieds (http://www.mini2.com/classifieds/showcat.php/cat/2) - there are plenty of very tidy R53 JCWs available for within your budget, many belonging to current or former members of this very forum. :D
