Anybody else experiencing an incredibly noisy engine when cold starting since the weather became much colder ?
My 10 plate (bought because of issues with the 07 it replaced - the infamous cold start/diesel type noise followed by using more oil than petrol after being 'fixed'...)
The noise is a little like the normal tappetty type noise the engine always makes but much-much louder. It's pretty bad at idle but when revved (even for normal driving) it's, let's say, 'head-turning'. It settles back to normal once the engine's warm.
Back to the dealers ? (this'll be the third fix so far, at only 6 months old, because it's already had a front wheel bearing and a 'kinked high pressure line causing the engine mgmt light to come on).
To say I'm not happy is an understatement - this is my 4th Cooper S (52/05/07/10) and without a shadow of the doubt the turbo cars, in terms of reliability, are a massive disappointment - if only they could've made a clean/economical supercharger!
