Hi,

I bought a mini cooper 2007 from mini dealer in october(2010). It seems to have sticky gear problem when the car is cold. Get in and out of 1st is a bit rough. No grinding. All the other gears are nice and smooth. Once the car is warm, gears seems to be smoother. I am not sure whether to take it to the dealer or not. I dont want to damage the transmission and make it worse by ignoring it. It will be harder to demonstrate to the dealer as it is only evident when the car is cold and the journey to the dealer will warm it up by the time I get there. What do you guys think? Should I get it fixed? Is it easy/cheap to fix? Thanks in advance.

If it's worrying you, take it to the dealer. You've paid their prices to get the warranty, so I'd get them to take a look to put your mind at rest.

Do it before the warranty expires, whilst it's still free!

I always get everything running just right when under warranty, no matter how small. You've paid a good load of cash for the car, so it should perform 100%.

I got Synter mini chigwell to look at it. They found no problems even after extended test. Then again, they messed up my rear washer jet when I asked them to replace rear wiper arm. So may be its worth getting a different dealer to check it.
