Hey All fellow Aussie Mini Fanatics,

Just wanting to know if this is the best I can do on a front and rear aero kit for my new R56:
R56 JCW Body Kit - Factory Painted | BM51.19.2.154.653 at www.minigenuineparts.co.uk (http://www.minigenuineparts.co.uk/mini-parts/info_BM51.19.2.154.653.html)

After delivery and conversion rate the total cost is about $2400 plus the 8 week waiting period is going to kill me.

Anyone sourced one else where cheaper? or locally for the same price?

Any help would be massively appreciated.

Regards,
Si.

That's a pretty good price, for the parts at least. Can't really comment on shipping (which at the price you mention is working out at around £340-ish) because I have no idea what a reasonable price should/would be.

Check out this thread (http://www.mini2.com/forum/derek-woodman-mini/130842-special-offer-john-cooper-works-aero-kit-2nd-gen-r56.html) - the whole kit works out at £60 less (so about AUD $90) but I suppose it would all come down to the cost of shipping as to whether there's room to make a notable saving.

PM Chris (http://www.mini2.com/forum/members/36047.html) or call Derek Woodman BMW (0044-1253-765500) for a price? :)

Thanks for that minicore, I will drop him a line tonight.

Would be interested to hear if anyone has used the minigenuineparts.co.uk site to order painted items and if so where they any good?

Also if anyone knows where i can pick one of these up in Australia and the costs involved?

I am also looking for an aerokit for my R56 MCS and I have also looked at minigenuineparts.
I am very torn as to what to do! I have also contacted a MINI dealer in the UK and Im waiting for a reply..

Be interested to hear how you get on, please could you keep us updated? And Ill let you know how I get on.

I certainly will do. I am just waiting a response from Chris but I will also want to contact BMW in AUS to see what the costs to get it locally would be.

Trust me...you will probably fall over when they tell you. :aargh:
They get them in primered only, then charge you to have it painted and then theres the fitting costs +GST. Off memory it was just under $6000 all up.
I walked away..:(

It wasnt until recently when I started hunting round again but on UK sites I found they arent anywhere near as expensive as the dealer was going to charge me here.

Best of luck, Ill keep checking back to see how you go! :)

Just following this up, how did you go?

I phoned quite a few dealers Australia wide and couldnt get it below $3500 (painted + delivery) and I still had to fit it.

I ended up buying it from Chris at Woodmans in the UK and got it shipped over.
I also got a carbon rear diffuser too, and even with that included (and they aint cheap lol) + delivary + GST + import duty it still came in under $3000

And here is the result..:nice:

I love it :)

Very nice. I need a complete front aero bumper for my racecar to convert to road going parts (to comply as a tarmac rally car), so will definitely be looking further into this myself.

Thanks guys and yes I love it!
My husband is a vehicle body builder, so he fit it for me FOC! If you had to pay someone to do it, I expect it would cost somewhere in the region of $500 - $1000.

I have just ordered some more 'goodies' from Chris :)

A carbon bonnet scoop, carbon tailgate handle, and a stubby aerial!
Im going to remove the spots as otherwise I think it will look too 'busy'

Ill post more pics when I get them.

Oooh very nice :)

I'm slowly learning how to change all these bits on my race car (already changed the boot handle and mirror caps, and the bumper comes off every time I have to load onto a trailer). So yeah, most of these bits aren't too hard to fit yourself. But ask yourself, after spending $$$ on the kit, do you really want to damage it during fitting to save $500?

PS - race cars are rough... you'd be surprised the amount of trim on mine held on with race tape :)
