Not really sure if i am posting this in the correct forum so sorry if not but i am new on here!! Just looking for some help/advice!! The coolant indicator light just came on in my mini yesterday but was just going a short journey and didnt really think to much of it! However i have been back out in it today and it is doing the same!! The water temperature seems to be up at the max 120 degrees and then there seemed to be like a funny bubbling sort of sound coming from the engine! I stopped at a few garages while out none of which could take a look at it until a few days time! There does seem to be some water leaking from somewhere but not sure where!? Does anyone have any idea of what my problem may be? My dad said he reckons i could possibly need a new radiator, does anyone know how much this would cost? Many thanks for any help!!!!

It could be a leaking radiator or leaking thermostat.
Make sure your coolant is topped up before driving the car.
Please indicate the build date of your MINI so this thread can be moved to the appropriate Faults & Fixes forum.

Is your water level down in the expansion tank? If so take a look at the right hand side of the engine for any leakage in which case its probably the thermostat housing/seal. The parts arn't expensive and if the housing isnt split its just the seal that has hardened. The new ones are a different colour, white I think. Easy fix, bit of an arse to get at, but make sure you bleed all the air out of the system when topping up.
Good luck.
