: How not to be treated when spending £27K on a used WC50

I visited Mini Park Lane today with the intent to buy a ex-demo WC50. The salesman contacted me yesterday to suggest I visit their show room today to view a very low mileage used JCW WC50. We agreed a time of 13.00 and I blocked out time to ensure I wasn't late.

I arrived at 12.45 and was taken straight to their underground car park to view the car. I was very disappointed to be shown a dirty car parked amongst a number of cars so my view was restricted. The car was not only dirty, but still had stickers on the front wings advertising Park Lane. I put that to one side and offered the agreed price, but requested a kerbed wheel was repaired, a mini antenna was supplied £20? and new number pates be fitted to the car.

Unfortunately 'the manager' refused the plates, and antenna. I was told I had to buy the extras, as the car was already a good deal. The dealership is so arrogant, clearly spending £27K on a used Mini is not worthy of a clean or a small gift to secure the deal. The dealer only had 5 hours to clean it today, assuming the car cleaning person was off on Sunday.

I don't want this experience to be the start of what the BMW group call normal. Is this behaviour a one off, or is it normal to be invited to a dealership to view a dirty car and be scoffed at when you ask for £80 to secure a deal?

Clearly, there are too many people with £27K burning a hole in their pocket in Park Lane.

Might be the person you dealt with. It sounds like the sort of service I get from the VW dealership.

I bought a pristine JCW210 from them with no hastle - booked an appointment over the phone, got a cup of tea/look round when I got there and then taken out in the car. They were very friendly and helpful.

They too did not want to drop price - but I manged to get a lot of parts/servicing thrown in instead.
