Well as the title says really! I am taking the plunge after owning 4 MCS's to an R56 factory JCW, I have been lucky enough to find one at a decent price with a great spec. I was going to buy a BMW but the MINI somehow won me over - again!

I am concerned however with how much I will need to spend in the general service of the car. I know exactly how much putting the usual tyres, brake wipers, bulbs etc would cost me on the S but i'm quite frightened with the bills I will get with a JCW, for a start the brakes are bigger so obviously I know they will cost more!

I'm a main dealer freak so I will not take my car to any ol' garage for any type of service unless its a BMW/MINI place so I know things will be expensive.
Can anyone share their experiences with keeping their JCW on the road? Im especially keen to hear from those who moved up from the Cooper S like me.

I had an R56S (and 3 R53s) before my FJCW. Fuel consumption might be 1mpg worse, insurance 25% higher, 4 pads £100 more, 4 discs £120 more and spark plugs every other service are £50 more. Much nicer car than the MCS, no comparison, get it asap!

Seems reasonable, I haven't yet had a chance to do many insurance quotes but I am hoping it will be cheaper than what I have been quoted from a few places so far!

Are those guess-timates you have mentioned above main dealer prices? What sort of miles do you get from a full tank? I get around 360 vs. a £67 tank of V-power on the S.

Sorry for the delay - been away. They are rough numbers taken from invoices I had for the JCW and the MCS. I get 390-415 from a full tank of Ultimate/VPower.

That is a lot of miles you are getting from a full tank! Is that right ?!

I have bought the JCW now and my first full tank only got me 270 miles, but I was enjoying myself a bit more than usual!!

Hi just noticed this post i have had three cooper s now since 2002 and a jcw for the past two years and in normal day to day driving fuel consumption very little different for me but a lot better car.
