: Cooper D or SD? Chilli or not?

Hi guys,

Asking for my friend not me! I love my S :)

Basically these are the few questions she's has

Would you go for a D or an SD (she likes the kick of my car but wants economy)?

Does chilli add value? She'll spec everything but xenons and the wheels because she has JCW to put on...so she saves £900 odd..is it worth putting on anyway?

I've driven a D and think it's fab around town, nice grunt on it. Slightly slow going uphill round a bend kind of thing....but the tax is good the consumption is fine...but the lure of the SD..

So if you could, which one would you choose?

She'll have a long wait for an SD so she might want to go for a D.

Chili is essential IMHO and adds to trade-in too 'cause that's what second owners look for.

I think adaptive Xenons are equally essential - but the factory settings are far too high for my liking.

The Countryman has 5-stud wheels!

Save money by missing off Sat-Nav though as a decent Tom Tom or such is a fraction of the price.

I have a Cooper D, and didn't spec the Chili pack, and think it's fine; I was originally just going to go for a One D, but decided to spend the extra and have a basic Cooper D rather than a fully loaded One D.

I know the dealers and second hand buyers love cars with all the bells and whistles, but the car has everything I need.

If your friend really wants more grunt they should probably wait for the SD....or of course they could just buy a Cooper D and then trade it in later when SD's are easier to come by?

The dealer has a slot for end of April delivery shockingly!!!!

Your right Galen, nice loaded d or basic sd is the situation. There 1k and a bit more difference!

Wonder how the sd is coming through so fast?!

I disagree with almost all of that! :D

The SDs are being built from this week, so delivery isn't a problem.

I think the Chilli pack is unnecessary; big wheels and half leather does nothing for me. If you are worried about resale values then just sell your MINI privately rather than get ripped off by dealers.

I have Xenons on my current hatch but might leave them off a Countryman.

I love the new Sat Nav - it works much better than the old system and looks so cool!

You might be right about Chili; I hadn't realised it was impossible to de-select 18in wheels or the anthracite roof lining.

Xenons may not be necessary for suburbanites but they are out in the country, without street lamps (IMHO!).

The MINI sat-nav may look cool to you but so it ought for £1000!

Well she's gone for a d with chilli...I'm quite surprised xenons don't come part of the chilli with the d!

Xenons are fab but lights are lights as long as you can see the road?

Wish they'd simplify the options :(

If it was up to me and cost was no option I would have the SD and ALL the extras....

However sensibly, a Cooper D is a nice mediu. And I agree the Chilli pack is a must - gives you everything you need I have always specced this on my MINIs
