My 2002-05 MCS gets as low as 17 mpg in stop-and-go traffic and as high as 34 mpg on the highway.

Multiply the figures above by 1.2 to convert to UK mpg.

Keep the car serviced well, correct tyre pressures and use good quality unleaded-that's the best you can do. Not the most economical of cars but boy the supercharge whine makes up for it and keeping to the traditional styling of the new MINI :D

If I could get 34 mpg on a run I would be happy, and if I give it some foot I can drop down below 17 mpg

I get about 400 miles out of a full tank, driving it carefully & not engaging the superchager too much. Not sure how to work out the MPG from that, as mine doesnt have a trip computer (or I havent found it!). I regularly do Hereford to Bristol and back (about 130 miles) on just over 1/4 tank.

I'm running V Power Unleaded, and non-run flat tyres....

I have a 2005 R53 MCS with a JCW kit and average 37 mile/ImpGal in normal driving - about 70% highway/30% city. (low of 27, high of 42) - This is with non-run flat 16" tires. I have monitored my mileage carefully since new and found my annual mpg increased for the first 25000 K or so. Peak mileage I have seen is over 40 miles/Impgal on highway at ~80 km/hr. A heavy right foot makes a big difference - so mileage appears to be very much dependent on how you drive.

I have a 2005 Cooper S JCW, i'm getting around 25-26mpg. Mainly town driving, some motorway. If i'm careful I get 34mpg on the motorway. (I'm using shell Vpower fuel btw, not sure if that makes any difference to mpg).

Just got mine, and after a long line of Vxr's , it's like diesel economy to me ! First tank, so plenty right foot action , 250 miles, still 1/4 tank left, can't believe it tbh !

I got 38mpg on a good run on an A road a few weeks back, the trip computer sometimes goes to 42mpg on a motorway run!

Not had mine long, but over the last tank it did 29.8mpg.
Not too bad considering I changed plugs this weekend and found at 39k miles, the original plugs electrodes had worn away flat with or below the isolator.
Surprised it even started never mind managed to do nearly 30mpg.

Fitted some iridiums now and a 15% pulley and I'm expecting an improvement on the next tank.

Not got the computer option, wondering on the cost to get it switched on at the dealers as a long time since I had a car without a computer as standard.

Proper calculations, JCW Auto gives about 28mpg mainly on backroads and the odd bit of town...

My 06 will see 27 to 32 MPG on a hi way run ( 90 mph vs 75 mph) usual 300-400 miles long. In town..lol where is my right foot?? LOL

Mods are 15%/ CAI/ OBX Header ( no cat)/ TPR2 Head/ performance camshaft.

R53 JCW and since November using ACTUAL calculations of fuel burnt to miles driven I have averaged 27.46 UK MPG

I found running on the highest octane fuel I can find makes a noticeable difference. If you live somewhere that has properly warm weather a bigger intercooler should also help, as the R53 uses fuel to help cool the exhaust valves (that's the burble/pop on overrun - fuel being injected just to cool the valves.)

Just checking my maths here. 27.46 UK MPG to US MPG would work thus:

27.46 x 1.201 = 33mpg (32.97946 exact)

Does this parse?

Id say thats pretty much just right, its 33mpg in US gallons.

I used a converter on my phone and the rate for UK Gallon 1 : 1.200949926 (a little extreme decimal places there.

But the result for 27.46 comes out at 32.978 US MPG.

Actually you need to DIVIDE by 1.2 to convert UK MPG to US MPG ;)

Hi MINIAC,

Are you sure because a US gallon is slightly bigger than a UK gallon, so it should be devide to go from US to UK. I feel 100% confident that's right as the calculations came out spot on. Lovely iPhone app :)

Ooops, I meant to say a UK gallon IS BIGGER than a US gallon. I could be confusing things now :)

Meaning I apologise MINIAC is correct with devide to get to UK mpg!

No worries ... I double checked using this Fuel Consumption Calculator (http://www.markporthouse.net/rangie/fuelconsumptionconversion.htm#) and verified that 27.46 miles per UK gallon equates to 22.87 miles per US gallon.
