I bought a 2011 Horizon blue mini convertible on 3/2/11 from Herb Chambers Mini Boston. My sales person told me the lights were set to auto. The very next day my mini wouldn't start in the am. Called roadside assistance, jump started for me. Drove for 7 days, happy with my car. Exactly a week later, my car wouldn't start again. Roadside Asst jumped it and I took it back to Herb Chambers. Has been there since and counting - 18 days!!!
First between the service department and the sales department they pushed the envelope to the others. They replaced the battery and when I noticed that the Satellite radio Sirius was missing from the car, the service people didn't think there is anything wrong with it. Service manager offered me a month of car payment. I wanted my car so I didn't take it. After a few days of getting nowhere for the car to be fixed, I asked the sale manager for a "replacement" and was told it's not a lemon. After a few more days of no mini in sight, he said yes to replacement "just to make me happy" but the options were less than desirable. My original sales person had left her mini job to work for the BMW side so I had no one there to work for me. I had to chase down the sales manager every few days. He would promise a delivery date and had me come in, then nothing. Then promise me another date for delivery and this time i learned my lesson, so i emailed to check if it's ready. "Not yet" again. He strung me along like this on and off for two weeks. My lesson learned here, once a sale is made, it's never their priority to make sure a sour situation can be fixed in a timely fashion. I would call and wait at the time he promised to give me an answer, nothing, no calls returned, or yet again, paperwork is not ready. So today I was at my wit's end after 3 weeks of waiting and I called Melissa Steffy, the general manager at HC Mini & BMW. She was quick and easy to talk to. And called me right back. She was frank with me and told me that the people who needs to sign off on the car is in Vegas and cannot sign until Thursday. Will I ever get my car? Will I ever be able to believe a sales person's words? Until I get my mini back, I can never be certain.
