Has anyone got, ordered or test driven a Cooper SD? I'd like to know your thoughts.

For what it's worth I have run a Dooper (PSA engine) for 27k miles since late 2009. I was intrigued when the new SD version was announced, especially as it has a BMW diesel in it. There had been one sitting in my local BMW dealer's car park for a few weeks (I seem to have made a few trips over there in recent weeks, either for the Dooper or my wife's 123). I have spent quite a few hours looking at that car from the outside.

This weekend I asked for a test drive of their demo car. Compared to my car the SD was a much more nimble car, with a noticeable performance improvement. The RFTs on 17" wheels gave a better ride than the 16" RFTs I had had (I swapped those for 17" non-RFTs).

The new black finish to the dashboard and MFSW pieces looks better than the silver finish pieces in my Dooper.

I am buying the SD that was in stock.

I've had my Mini Cooper SD Hatch for a week now and have covered approx 700 miles so far. I have to say I love it. Great fun to drive.

hello, i don't know anything about minis..well new ones at any rate..i've driven a couple of old ones, the 850 i learnt in..and the van i had as a student..but nothing since...untill about 3 weeks ago now.
.i was bored and returning from the tip when i passed a mini shop..
see if i can have a go in a tester i thought.
"what one interests you" says the seller..."the grey one with the 2 tone wheel"s says i.. "ok it's a 2lt diesel" "lets go"...

i'm used to diesels.. had a few vans and my current car is a td4 freelander..
my diesels have tended to be slow lazy and easily forgiving to drive...

WOW .... BLOODY WOW... 70 comming down the slip road..80 before i knew it...oops slow down... didn't act like any diesel i knew
The pull away from the garage was so smooth and slow... felt so easy
when driving there was no correcting of steering..like in the L/R..just firm and went where i pointed it.. never had 6 gears before...real short shift...again easy
test over sooooo quick ... didn't want to return it...

Have now had a second go in the same car....STILL BLOODY WOW....am becomming obsessed......... I'm gonna buy one

these are just my subjective thoughts...may not be everyones..but ....
