Hi there,

I've just collected a 2002 Mini Cooper, and am a bit gutted it doesn't have remote central locking.

However, I'm hoping it actually does, and that I'm just missing a remote equipped key - otherwise the passenger door would also have a keyhole, surely?!

Your input welcomed before I go and look silly at a local dealer!

Never seen or heard of a MINI that did not have remote central locking, your local dealer should be able to give you exact original spec and options from your chassis number or registration number.

Yes, sounds like you've just been given the 'spare' 2nd key that doesn't have any buttons, as ALL Mini's have remote locking.
If you got the car direct from a main dealer, id go back & insist they supply a replacement remote key at their expense, otherwise your going to have to pay bmw yourself

Unlikely the garage will do anything though. If its that plastic black one that looks like a toy key thats the spare. My 51 plate has remote locking so I imagine they all do, youll need a replacement key which probably isnt that cheap as itll need to be attached/picked up by the cars computer brain :P too.
