Hello guys.

This is my first post, so I'm not sure if I'm on the correct forum for asking about diesel engine problems.

I've got a 2010 mini one D (1.6 90hp) and I've noticed that turning off the engine after driving for about 20/30 mins ends up generating a rather weird noise. To be honest, sometimes it resembles the noise of a cow...something like mmuuuuuuuuuUUUUuuuuu.

This is not the noise of the fan and I'm a little worried about it because it is really similar to a previous noise I've heard in my old Peugeot 207 (which, btw, had practically the same engine as my mini, though it was the 110hp version). At the time, and after taking it several times to the dealer, they told me that there was a problem with a valve which was responsible for controlling the oil passage through the engine (or something like that)...they changed it and the noise disappeared, but after that, I never stopped having problems with the peugeot's engine.

So, has anyone had any noise problems like the one I've described with the 1.6 diesel engine? If so, can you give me more info about what was happening in your cases?
