What is the real difference between a Limited Slip Differential and the Standard part?

Meening how affective is it on the MINI Cooper S (1st Gen).

Anyone who has owned / 'hard' driven both versions? Your input is highly appreciated

Thanks

If you drive very aggressively or do quite a few track days, then a LSD would be beneficial. Otherwise it wont make much difference on a FWD car imo

Still a good mod to do though :D

I had a mechanical LSD on my R53 which I owned for nearly 50,000 miles and (during that time) also drove another FWD car with 183bhp and what a difference a proper mechanical LSD makes!

Even in every day use, I wouldn't even consider a car like the R53 without it.
