Hi Everyone

I've been playing with the MINI Connected App on my iPhone 3GS while I've been waiting for delivery of my new MINI and have been testing the web radio function with my classic mini, streaming over bluetooth.

Clearly this doesn't have an external antenna or snap in etc but I'm actually finding it not too bad.

I've changed my mobile network to Vodafone as they appear to have much better 3G coverage around Leicester/Leicestershire and I've modified my commuting route to work so I can get 3G for nearly all the journey.

I've been listening to Energy FM at 32k stream and it really is quite remarkable - it just seems to work and the sound quality is good too.

When I first started testing I was on Orange and it was truely hopeless. Loads of drop outs and a real pain. Vodafone seems much better for me.

With the possibility of maybe some extra signal from the official snap-in too, it seems like it could be excellent.

Also, it seems that it's only consuming about 7.5mb of data for 30 mins listening which isn't too bad either.

Anyone else using it / happy / not happy etc?

I have been using webradio in my Cooper D since September 2010 using the official snap-in on my Iphone 3GS. I am on O2 but as they have dropped unlimited web and imposed a 1Gb monthly cap, I am looking for other alternatives.
I used to stream at 128AAC but this wipes out a 1GB allowance in ~18-20 days so now stream at 64KAAC or 24KAAC.
I can get more or less uniform coverage on my daily commute and find that if using the lower rates of 24K that it does not dropout much.
Overall, I am very pleased with Webradio and very rarely listen to any other music source on my daily drive. I always listen to Radio Paradise.

There are bugs in the Mini Connected/IOS which means every now and then you have to either stop/restart Mini Connected or power off/on the Iphone.

Fab - what part number snap-in is it for the 3GS? I presume it's a 'media' version?

I've not found many stations with a 24k stream as thats almost at a level where a GPRS signal will do!

Paradise you say.... hmmmm

1. It is the part number I quoted on the other thread about Iphone issues. It is for a 3GS and fully supports all the functions except video. I was lucky in that I got one of the pre-release versions.
2. A lot of the web radio stations are rubbish and full of adverts.
3. Radio Paradise is listener supported (so no ads) it is broadcast from a town called Paradise in Northern California and broadcasts eclectric music basically this means anything from older music to latest music. It is brilliant and has introduced me to so much new music that I would never have otherwise heard. Lots of streams are available including a 320kps steam exclusively for Naim users.
