i have 2005 convertible and due to florida sun, the canvas rotted in 5 years and then, consequently, a cable broke. had the motor, cables and canvas all replaced but for some reason, it will not open without giving a shove upwards now. the garage offered to pay 1/2 if i took it to mini dealership to figure out if the alignment was off. the dealership wanted NOTHING to do with me since they didn't do the top initially, stating the garage should stand behind their work although they could not find anything wrong with it. they stated that sometimes when one cable breaks and the other is working, it can torque the frame which can only be fixed by replacing the frame ($1800 + labour = $3000). Dealership also stated that when they replace the cables, sometimes it just doesn't work the same.....?????? sounds to me like a Mini design flaw. any thoughts from anyone?
