tayna.co.uk/Type-065-Varta-Black-Dynamic-Car-Battery-P3135.html]Type 065 Varta Black Dynamic Car Battery 12V 53Ah (Short Code: C10) (Varta DIN: 555 155 054 or 553 400 047) - Car Batteries - Varta Car Batteries
been looking at this web site for a new battery, can anyone tell me where they buy theres, BMW want £105 pound for one.
and what would be the best to use, the book says 12v,46ah mini one 2003

had my car battery check today and they said that it should be 400a but only getting 280a, 'think that s what he said' so needs replacing as its warm weather now it starts ok but once its cold it will cause problems.

thanks for your help

Which MINI do you have? The R50 and the R53 both use the same oem group 47 battery, but when
you look at other brand group 47 batteries, some fit one car but not the other due to the different size
space and clamp and vent tube requirements in either case.

Before buying a battery I'd measure the dimensions of your current battery and compare it to those of the battery you're considering as a replacement.

The next battery i'm going to buy for my 2004
Cooper will be the Bosch Silver HSB075.
Great spec and a 5 year warranty!
It's not cheap at £113.99, however, i prefer to buy a decent one
and not have it let me down.

This thread's from the other side of the pond, so you may not have these particular choices, but it's a start.
Batteries that fit the R50:

bought the Bosch silver HSB075
Got Halfords to fit it, only one thing tho, it was not the same height, he recommended using a piece of flat wood wrapped in tin foil.

would this be OK?

thank you

...exactly what i did.
I measured the base of the battery,
then the height i needed to raise the battery by.
Got a piece of MDF that size, job done!

... to protect the wood from battery acid fumes??
In that case what do you wrap the tin foil in to protect it?

The battery is vented via a tube, no need to worry!
