: Looking to modify exhaust on non S mini

I have a 2005 Mini, and I am looking to get a little more power.
Cold Air intake is currently installed, so I figured I would change around the exhaust. I was looking for a high flow catalytic converter and a cat back system. Any one used a particular company they are happy with?

If you've done the air intake, there's very little to be gained by sinking money into the Cooper for more performance; the maximum you are realistically likely to ever achieve will be another 12-15bhp. If you are looking for a noticeable (rather than completely marginal) power increase, I'd swap for a similar age Cooper S now and then spend money on tuning that when the need arises.

Tigger could have a point there:yes4lo: but i was told you could get the non S up to 130-137bhp from 115bhp just from an ecu re-map. so maybe you should go down that rout rather than splashing out on the exhaust system :D

As above, I'd be inclined to agree with Tiger... but it depends exactly what you're after. Do you want a smidgen increase in performance, or serious gains?

From what I've read, the remap gains usually result in closer to 130bhp, rather than the top end of given estimates. There are a handful of folk rocking 140-150bhp first gen Coopers, but they've had an absolute fortune thrown at them. :)

Well I am sorta stuck, as it is my wife's daily driver- which she loves. I figured I would do a few marginal mods, that weren't too costly (i.e. under $1000), just to give it a bit more hp. The ECU would be the last one, as I am under the impression I would need to send it off somewhere to be set to the mods I put on it.

So that having been said. Any ideas on where to get a bolt-on high flow cat for the mini?

Anyone ever used a sprint booster?

Regards and Thanks in advance!

ECU will give you the most. IMO new intake/exhaust does next to nothing without the remap.

I had Superchips (Powerchips) ECU / Supersprint exhaust and compared to a stock Cooper was totally diffferent. It revved really hard :D They read your maps thru ODBII port, send away (you can keep driving while you wait) then upload when ready.
