Hi

Just picked up my Coutryman Cooper D - secondhand but only a 60 plate and I am very happy. But, just a few questions -

1 It has the chilli pack, and buttons on the steering wheel for cruise control. However I can't tell if I have it (when I press the buttons the warning light comes on for failed cruise control) - I also cant find any mention of cruise control on the Mini website. Is this an additional feature or standard?

2 It has standard bluetooth and USB. My ipod and iphone don't work with any of the 3 white apple cables I tried (charge but no music through the radio) and I see a lot of discussion on this on the board. Is there a cheaper option to buy the Y cable than to go to Mini? Does anyone else make one. And what do I have to look for - ie aux plus USB with specific capabilities (I have a £5 Y cable but that also doesnt work so presume it is missing some function?)

3 I have posted this in the countryman forum already so apologies for repeating - how do I tell if it has runflats? Are these standard. It has a compressor. Should I also have a jack, and where would that be?

4. Is it possible to buy the flat load floor as an extra, or get a boot cover to stop my boot getting marked by the buggy - I dont mind not having the flat load boot but all covers I have seen seem to only fit to the FLB and not the dipped well.

Thanks

Here Goes!!

1 - If you have the Multifunction Steering Wheel then you have cruise control, to turn on you press the I/O button and a green indicator will light up in the speedo. To set your speed press either the + or - button when you have reached your desired speed. To disable system, you can either press the I/O button, touch the break pedal or depress the clutch.

2 - Have a look on eBay for the cable you may find it cheaper, however you will need to use the 'Y' cable to allow music to be played from your iPod/iPhone through the USB connection. As you mentioned the white Apple cable will charge the device but not do an awful lot else.

3 - Runflat are a no cost factory option. As you have the compressor then i would imagine that the wheels are not runflat. Check the sidewall of the tyre, it should say either RSC or Run on Flat somewhere on it if they are indeed runflats. As for the jack, it should be in the boot within it's own pouch...it should be pretty obvious.

4 - The flat load floor is a factory option, whilst I'm sure it is possible to retro-fit this, I would imagine that it is not the cheapest jobs!

Thanks Leaky, thats very helpful. Ive been out and tried and tested the cruise control.

I can't see RSC on the tires anywhere, but I contacted the original owner and he says he never had a jack with it.

Thanks for your reply.

The first deliveries of Countrymen were delivered without the jack as a result of a supply issue but this should have been subsequently provided by the dealer. You might want to raise this with the dealer who originally supplied the car.

Excellent - I will do that. Although really, as there is no spare it does seem a bit of a spacesaver not having one.

I can't see RSC on the tires anywhere ...

The model name of the tire usually contains a runflat designation ...

DSST (Dunlop)
EMT (Goodyear)
RFT (Pirelli, Bridgestone)
RunOnFlat (Goodyear)
SSR (Continental)
XRP (Kumho)
ZP (Michelin)
ZPS (Yokohama)

What brand and model name are on the sidewall of the tires?

They are Continental, and say ContiPremiumContact 2 - I can't see an SSR on them anywhere. Presumably not runflat then. :nice:
