So i've finally blown the factory stock speakers in my 02 mini cooper and i'm looking for suggestion on what is a good model to replace them with. I'm looking for something that is relatively plug and play. Tweeters are still good and back speakers i think are ok. So what do you have/suggest to replace the front speakers? is components or 2-way or 3-way best? 5.25 or 6.50?

6.5 inch components are best. Then it is just down to the price range. I'd advise you go somewhere you can listen to speakers as the best sound is very subjective i.e. personal. As a start Focal, Infinity and Alpine all make good mid-price speakers.

I went for a wild system in my 02 Cooper:
- Alpine PDX 4-100 digital amp
- Polk 6.5" Woofers (honestly can't remember the model) + tweeters (thru 2-way splitter)
- Polk 6x9" 3 way coaxial (all 3 speakers mounted in the same 6x9 chassis) with 3 way splitter.

Was cloced at 127dB in a sound-off :D
