I'm working on a Salvage 04 MCS that had low water. The BC1 module was replaced with a used unit. It seems the donor car had all the same options except the fog lights (surprising) It fails NH inspection without functioning lights if the car is so equipped. I'm trying to decide which of the following actions to take.

1. Remove Fog lights and fill hole with factory blanks ($50)
2. Purchase new BC1 module and have programmed ($500 -$750)
3. Try and skip any decision making by the BC1 with the fogs and run a direct wire from the switch to the relay point (this i need help with but only $1)

any suggestions???

Awesome Car :)

You should be able to get a dealership to enable the fog light function, if it is not enabled. As far as I know the BC1 is the same whether fogs are present or not.

As said just get the fog light function enabled on the used BC1.......a Mini Dealer can do this easily and would normally charge approx. 0.5 hours labour to carry out any simple BC1 program changes.

I tried talking it to my local indepentent Mini Shop (they use the GT1) and I was told because the BC1 was coded to another car it could not be programmed. However when i drove away the Auto AC worked for the first time since i've owned it....Hmmmmmm.

This Mini2 member 'Cooperjosh' worked out how to program the BC1 himself when retrofitting an alarm from another Mini
(not sure about actual coding donor modules to another car though, Dealers probably have to beware of any potential security issues, such as the swapping of car identities, etc):
