Hi,
Noticed in the dealership last week a neat semi integrated satnav. The bracket fits around the rev counter and the satnav clips into it. Looks like it hides all the wires but no details if it supplies power to the unit.

Cost for bracket and Garmin satnav, inc fitting, is £263. I suppose with the price of Mini accessories it's not a bad price for a neatly integrated unit but I think the Garmin unit should be bigger for that money (it has a 3.5" screen). Mini accesories sell a bigger one for £120. Add an hour's labour (£75) and the bracket (£48) still makes it expensive for a small unit.

I like the bracket and have searched for one, so I can fit it, but to no avail. There are some in America for about £48 but shipping is £22.
Does anyone know of such a bracket available in the UK.

For my R56 the part number is 65902218327 and the cost is £79, I don't know if it is the same for all R56's. It's a lot but it does look good.

Hi Steve,
That looks like what I want. What parts do you get in the kit please?

I had it fitted to my Soho hatch today and it looks really smart.

The unit is just the right size for my pocket and doesn't look out of place.
It replaces my TomTom Start2 and it is a bit smaller and a lot thinner.
3.5" is just what I wanted.

The power is supplied when you switch on the engine and it shuts off when you switch it off, although there is the option to keep it on when you switch off the engine.

No no more unsightly marks on the windscreen or the unit falling off unexpectedly.

My Soho Cooper hatch with Chili Pack has been spoilt enough this week.

I have a Garmin 1490 with lifetime maps and traffic updates with a 5" screen and it cost me about US$160. This model is also compatible with the Garmin ecoRoute (about US$100) which gives you a bunch of fuel economy information as well as gauges like water temp, boost, etc. Craven Speed (also US) offers several options for mounting brackets that attach to the back of the tach.

Hi there,

I have a Dooper May 2011 and i would like to buy a GPS unit for it.
My only requirement is to be intergraded with the full Bluetooth that the car is equipped.

I would like the voice of the GPS to exit from my car speakers and interrupt my music as it happens with my phone, rather than have the music really low in order to hear what the GPS says.

Can anyone can help me and tell me what I should buy.

Thanks a lot

I have just bought a mini with this fitted:)

The bracket is neat but no matter where you turn it the steering wheel covers part of the nav unit:(

Disappointed it does not play audio through mini speakers and although handbook shows tmc you need an optional lead to enable:eek:

Looking at the sales brochure showing this fitment it does look as though the bottom right side of the nav unit is covered by the steering wheel rim from the drivers perspective, youre right not good. Mines got the integrated MINI sat nav built into the speedo and whilst better than a seperate one you still need to take your eyes off the road somewhat to look at it, until they come up with some idea like head up display theres always fors and againsts for each system.

I know what you mean but I have the integrated system that cuts the radio when its giving instructions and sometimes thats a nuisance as well.
Imagine for instance: "We bring you an urgent news flash please listen very carefully", In 300 yards turn left and then take the next right at the roundabout, and thats the end of this news flash"
Always interrupts in at the most inconvenient moment I find.

I know what you mean:)

Finding the centre clock taking some getting used to so tend to rely on digital centre speedo:p

My range rover system is bad for interrupting radio - usually during pop master or when I am listening to a news story:rolleyes:

It's so bad I have resorted to my old garmin now in view of other faults as well:mad:
