I've been asked to post this on M2 on behalf of West Yorkshire Police, thefts of mini parts including spoilers, side scuttles, wing mirror caps and wheels have had 40 plus reported cases in the Wakefield area within the last 2 months alone.
I myself am a victim of such a crime and I for one feel this must be stopped:angry::angry:

This is the press release

Cars get broke into where I live so the police put up posters on all the trees saying dont keep them in the car. They have now all fallen off. Great job.

I cant see how UV marking is going to 1. stop anything or 2. catch anyone. People just sell it on ebay. Ebay needs to improve its car parts sales, but it wont, ever. If anything it will get worse because its so easy for someone to steal and just sell it. And you and I should realise they will NEVER be caught.

Policing needs to improve in this country on these and many other offences like fraud. Penalties are not strict enough, police need to catch them and put them in jail for a long time, obviously the jails are full so they dont.

Its probably one person stealing all the radios where I live, (at least once a week) in my area there is smashed glass on the floor. I've walked past two incidents when it just happened, plus my car got broke into. It wouldnt take a lot to catch them, just sit in the area it happens across the street and youll catch them. I personally think this would be money better spent than UV pens.

PS: Out of all the mountain bikes Ive had stolen over the years, marking them made absolutely no difference.

Better solution = locked garage, locked drive.

People will nick anything because there are scummy lowlifes about as we all know, above all else they do not care about anything, only about how bad their life is or how they dont deserve it (they are often complete hypocrites) Someone once stole an toy character aerial top off my dads car, which was strangely upsetting because it was just a silly thing on the aerial on an old car.

So all we can do is lock our things away because in a world where everyone wants everything fast and now, we can no longer assume the best in people. You have to assume the worst.

*rant over.

(8 mountain bikes stolen, car radio stolen, car keyed down one side, house broken into, £1800 stolen from bank from fraudster who will never be caught)
