Hello guys, I'm brand new to the forum, The delivery was just last Friday after waiting for 4 weeks!! Red stripe was fitted by mini dealer. Cant get enough of my car right now, Love it:D:D:D

Questions

1) We ordered full 'red' racing stripe but the it actually looks orange! Have you guys had the same experience when ordering red vinyl from mini dealer?

2) I've photoshop the colour to red to compare what do you think?

Thanks guys

Hi there,
On my laptop it looks more red than orange. Looks cool:wink:

Doesnt look great for me (you asked), esp the way it just finishes on the edge of bumper with a rounded edge. Id think of resale value (as i imagine you are) and not have it at all. If you do want stripes why not get traditional cooper red MINI stripes. As the car ages the current stripe will not age well and look scruffy, at least thats what all the ones look like now on 52 plates with stripes. They do not stand the test of time because they are unstylish to begin with really. Anywayy, personal preference.

Also I imagine you did your photoshopping in RGB colour, vinyl is CMYK, so it will be a different colour.

Thanks, I respect your comments but sadly I totally disagree. The traditional cooper red stripe makes the car looks wide as the vinyl diverges away from each other and I think the front is already wide enough.
Also vinyl stripes are stickers! Just because they don't last it does not mean that they are not 'stylish'. Say if I bolted a piece of aluminium in bright pink with smiley faces in the middle of the bonnet it would outlast the car and at the same time look completely 'unstylish' :;)
It's all a matter of personal preference but to say that things that do last are unstylish is wrong I think. :)

I like it, and it doesn't look too orangey to me, although I can see what you mean...

That said, if you're unhappy, mention it to the dealer and see what they say? :)

I see what you mean, but I wonder if it depends what lighting you are under when you look at it. I think it would look better in a deeper red, like in the second photo, but that is just my opinion.

At the end of the day, its only a graphic, its not like mega bucks to change it. You could try going back to the dealer and express you are not 100% about it, and if all else fails, go to a graphics company that deals in them and get exactly what you want.

I have to add, your MINI looks stunning! Beautiful and yes, if that red stripe was a deeper shade, it would be very wow indeed. :)

Best of luck and let us know how you go x

Thank you for all of your replies guys.:biggrin: I've spoken to the dealer and we decided to change it to Chilli Red. Apparently according to BMW the colour on my car at the moment is 'pure red':confused: BMW guys must be colour blind!

Anyway, I'm paying 150 pounds for the new vinyl in red fitted and supaguarded.

Oh im also getting the aerodynamic rear spoiler :p:p

All will be done tomorrow afternoon.

Will bring in more photos very soon. :D:D:D

Ahh, that makes sense... Pure Red is the new Countyman colour, which I did think the first time I saw it, "that's a little orangey!" :o

How much is the job (ie. what would they usually charge?), given that you're paying £150? I'm surprised they haven't offered to replace the vinyl free of charge, really...

Glad you're getting it sorted though! :D

If you want something quality go for a wide gold stripe with a narrow gold pinstripe each side of it. Goes well with black. Bit individual too.

If I may:

1. your photos look great - awesome location shots!

2. the color is too orange, so good on you for making them fix it - otherwise, i like the big ol stripe down the middle - looks fab

3. good luck - looking forward to seeing the new color

4. enjoy your MINI - I too am obsessed with ours

I like it. Keep it as you spent all that money on getting it fitted.
