hi guys, i have just got my 2006 MCS and am looking at doing a few upgrades in the not too distant future
first thing will be exhaust, having been searching you tube i like the look and sound of the Borla cat back system although its a tad expensive but cant find anyone in the UK that seems to do them, now i have come from subaru's which no matter what bits you put on, require remaps, is this the same with the mini's?
i'm not after mega power, have chased that route before and ended up with a car that was fragile and needed 120% concentration all the time
does anyone have any other recommendations on exhausts please? i want something that sounds a little deeper and not too raspy as i have my little boy in the car alot and i dont want his hearing damaged like the scooby was doing, he used to travel with his fingers in his ears sometimes

Hi Tandy
Reading this brings back some memories and smiles. I too am from a Subaru background and have just got off the phone from Mad4Mini about some work I'm having done shortly.
One of my queries being : does it need a remap?
Answer : No - not for what I'm doing. The ECU is simply reset, meaning fuel/air rations, DET etc are all relearned from the new configuration of the car (i.e. back pressure reduction, larger injectors, intercooler upgrade, pulley reduction etc etc).
I've a 2005 MCS JCW and my first upgrade this week is a GRS topmount motorsport intercooler, 17% reduction, shorter belts, spark plugs and leads, oil and filter change, new filter in the JCW airbox, optimised bypass valve and a twin bearing idler pulley.
All of this will go on without a map :)
Also - regarding exhaust, check out the Miltek cat back systems. These sound superb in the flesh ;)

hi lee, cheers for that lot, i'm going down the route of catback exhaust, filter and 17% pulley i think to start, as i'm not after mega power i think that'll be more than sufficient for what i want
can anyone reset the ECU? i have been talking to tony at miniparts i think, having spoken to his chaps while i was at work and they were playing on a trackday :D
i did have a milltek full decat on my hawkeye and it was very nice, just hoping i can find one somewhere i can have a listen too before i go into buying one

hey,
I got a scorpion system fitted at the weekend and whilst I was there somebody else had there cooper s there too (both 2003), but he was having the miltek system on, after they were both fitted we both had a little blast and his seemed a little quieter, so maybe look at them both but they both sound really good and not to loud! if you want a clip of what it sounds like pm me your email and I will try to take a quick recording of it if that helps.

We can supply Borla exhaust systems,
As for the ecu reset, don't worry, the is always adapting to the car.
adaptions can be cleared with most garage code readers.
