: Any way to get boost stereo to come on with ignition?

We've had our cooper s convertible now for a couple of days short of a week and absolutely love it. It's got what according to the original purchase invoice is called a Boost CD radio. It seems an OK set but what I'd like to change is the fact that if the stereo is on when you turn off the ignition, it doesn't automatically come back on when you turn the ignition back on. You always have to manually turn it on.

Is there a setting somewhere that tells it to come on back on with the ignition if it was on when the ignition was turned off? I've never had a stereo that always defaults to off when the ignition is turned on before.

Thanks in advance for any help.

My Boost doesn't do this - if it was on before, it comes on again. It does reset its volume to 'normal' when it comes on.

So two thoughts:
- If your car is new, have BMW changed the way they are programmed? If it's new or a secondhand dealer purchase, a trip to the dealer may sort it out.
- If your car is a secondhand private purchase, there are less options open to you. You could probably get a dealer to reset/reflash the BCU that controls this behaviour, but expect to pay a fair amount for that. You could just try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes to see if that resets enough to change this behaviour.

Thanks for the reply. We bought a private second hand 2005 convertible Cooper S.

Whenever you turn it back on it does reset the volume the same as yours, but it doesn't come on automatically with ignition as you'd expect. I'm wondering if there's a hidden menu you can access in the head unit to enable auto on with ignition. You used to get similar menus in other head units so maybe this one has it and somebody has just set it differently...
