Whilst parking my car at the supermarket earlier I must of picked up a puncture in my n/s/f tyre, when I got out of the car I could hear a hissing from the wheel area, from further inspection I found a hole in the center of the tyre tread, it let all of the air out in less than a minute so the hole is substantial, this was annoying enough but then when driving home there where no warnings lights or messages to tell me of this, it was obvious it was punctured as the car was pulling slightly and the tyre noise had increased.

How does this system work, didnt it recognise I had a puncture because it happened when the vehicle was turn off as the air escaped, so it reinistialised itself when driving off to the flat tyres rolling circumferance or have I got a fault. My warranty runs out today or tomorrow so will be on the phone first thing to log the problem with mini, but my new tyres aren't coming untill wednesday so it will be garaged untill then.

The car does have run flats and is installed with the tyre pressure monitoring system as it has a reset option in the onboard computer.

Any advise or info to get a better understanding will be appreciated...

Update..........

Spoke to Mini technician earlier and even though they haven,t come across this before they are confident there isn't a problem with the system. If the system wasn't working then that would mean the ABS system would be faulty as this is what gathers the information. They said unusual circumstances can confuse the system, this could be losing all pressure whilst being turned off, the system works by monitoring the wheels over a distance(over 5 miles) which a normal puncture would of been detected and a warning given, so I'll just have the tyres changed and wait and see..I'll try and test it by letting some air out during a journey
