Hello All,

I've just bought myself a Cooper S JCW (the old supercharger type whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!!!). I've been reading on here about the preference for running it on higher octane fuels, so I've found the nearest garage that stocks Shell V-Power which i believe is around 99 RON. My local Tesco only stocks standard 97 RON super-unleaded.

Does anyone have much information on the use of Fuel Additives? Either octane improvement or engine cleaning? Are they recommend or all a bit unnecessary in this say and age?

This is my first time owning a car with this kind of performance so I'm keen to try and keep it in good shape.

Thanks.

Robert

Go for the Shell V Power............I always use Tescos 99 in our drag car and even our MINI One courtesy car for the extra £2.20 per 45 litres its worth it :)

If you are stuck your MINI's ecu will adapt to lower grades by retarding the ignition timing, so it will be safe but not as much fun :)

As for additives I wouldn't bother

Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate that.

I'm slowly finding my way around the local garages, noting which of them stock the good stuff, The car feels allot happier since the last couple of vpower fixes it's had.

Thanks.
