Hi all,

Just a query, Have just received my new MINI cooper which has the media and chili pack. I was told that I would be able to play songs off my iphone and ipod touch through this, but its all very confusing. When I plug my ipod touch intp the front usb port using the white apple cable it recognises the ipod and I can choose songs, see graphics etc but when the song plays I get no sound, but the song is actually playing. I have also tried just playing it with a 3.5mm cable straight from the ipod to the socket and get the same problem. I have read this morning online that you need a specific y cable adapter from MINI for 40 quid :O but also some people have said they received one with the car....Should you receive one if you have the media pack? I would have thought so bearing in mind the cost of it :o. If I plug the 3.5mm cable from my blackberry to the 3.5mm socket in the car the music works fine although I cant control it through the display. Lastly Do you need to buy a seperate snap in adapter for the armrest? It has some metal plate in the armrest already that you can take out, but cant seem to plug anything in :s all very cramped. The car was delivered to me in Cheshire from Sunderland branch and so didnt get shown any set up or anything or get chance to ask questions. Would rather not ring them if I have got it all wrong so thought I would ask on here for advice :)

Many thanks for reading and any help anyone can offer.

Hi there...

I have just taken delivery of my Countryman with Chili and Media package and I got a Y lead given to me with the car....I am pretty sure its supposed to come with the media package...It wasnt in the car the dealer gave it to me when I was dealing with the paper work. Its definately what you need to work the ipod and they cost about £40 so I would get on the phone to your dealer.

Oh and yes the 'snap in' is an extra that you would have to buy separatetly if you want one they are quite pricey but work well so I understand......I have decided against one and I just plug my iphone on to the Y cable and then put it inside the arm rest out of the way.

I will soon learn to say what I want in one post I promise !!!

The Y cable is quite short but I bought an £8 'extension' cable that extends the Y lead from Amazon and that works a treat too.

Hey thanks for the reply :) I rang the dealer and they put me through to the part dept and the guy said its not part of the media pack....but some salesmen include it in the sale...I dont remember him saying anything about it in the sale just persumed it would come with it as its advertised as "allows you to play music through your ipod and use mini connected" without the lead I cant do neither. He said I would need to ring on Monday and speak to a salesperson. :( be annoyed if I have to pay another 40 quid after paying over 1k for the media pack!!1
