Hello,

Has anyone got any news/facts on wether the newest Cooper S with BMW tweaking has a bit more capability with tuning? Reliability?
I have a 2011 model, but I previously had an early R56 with the timing belt rattles etc, but all those problems seem to have been ironed out now. Power delivery seems much smoother too.

I want to remap mine and I was reluctant to do it on my earlier MCS, because I've read little bits here and there that the engine's not as tough as the old R53 was and might result in problems further down the road.

Have there been many remap failures on the R56 MCS?

Thanks in advance

Did you say "more tunable"? I have 2007 R56 with 20% more power using only powerbox and it'll be even more when I buy CAI, exhaust and intercooler. No problems whatsoever.
I'd personally avoid direct ECU remap because they might overwrite it anytime with new update when you stop by at dealer's.

check out evolve for a remap. i think they redo it for free if its flashed by a dealer

I guess I was wondering if the BMW tweaks had made it capable of seeing bigger gains and/or safer gains, but I don't doubt the first of the 2nd gens are very tunable. I just always worried about reliability with my 2008 MCS because I had it in the dealers quite a bit for the timing rattles etc, so was reluctant to map it.
