: Trying to correct fuel consumption display on 2003 R53

Hello,

I have a 2003 Mini Cooper S and I'd like to correct the fuel consumption on the on board computer. The last 3 tankfuls it's averaged 111% of the true fuel consumption.

I found the directions on how to do this at:

However, the menus available in my on board computer don't match what the FAQ says. It says that they're:

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15.0 - 18.0 (No funktion),19,20,21

I'm seeing:

0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,13,14,15,18,19, and 21

I don't have the 20 test, which is supposed to be the correction for the fuel consumption. From the instructions that I found for resetting the oil change alert, it appears that there are a few different menus for these cars. Does anyone know what the menu for resetting my 2003 Mini Cooper S would be. It's a really early 2003, manufactured in 2002.

Hi, have you tried just reseting the average fuel consumption on the trip computer? If it's kept an average over a long period it might be using an unrealistic average to do it's sums.

Every time I fill the tank I reset my trip odometer and the average gas mileage. I've been comparing the mpg for each tankful comparing the gallons used divided by the distance traveled to the trip computer's average mpg. For the three tankfuls I've gone through since I've owned the car the displayed mpg was 1.11, 1.12, and 1.10 times the calculated value.
