Hello - after weeks looking through this forum, I've finally decided to take the plunge (due to the excellent advice given on here)

Anyway, I took a MCS checkmate 06 out for a spin yesterday and I'm hooked.

Some advice really. Car is mint/44k/1 owner/full mot/FSH. It's up for. £8,000 at a reputable dealer (even 1yr warranty). Cracking part. Ex deal too.

What are you thoughts on this? Price and car in general. I understand the UK model isn't as highly spec'd as our counterparts.

Books as follows, so £8k is probably a tad over...

Original Price £17,660
Franchised Dealer £7,420
Independent Dealer £7,125
Private Good £6,685
Private Poor £5,575
Part Exchange £5,945

The Checkmate didn't come with a defined "spec" as far as I'm aware, aside from obvious internal and external differences - paint, wheels, seats and so on (guess Chili options were standard?). A "standard" Checkmate (full leather, usual refinements etc.) would be the same in any market I think? Do you have the full spec to hand?

I have just bought a MCS Checkmate from a main dealer, it was up for £7,950 but managed to secure it for £7,750 with 12 months full manufacturers warranty, 19 months MOT (yes 19 months - currently has 7 month on remaining MOT plus they gave me a voucher for a new MOT when the current one runs out), 2 years MOT insurance/protection, 6 months tax, 12 months breakdown cover and a full machine valet. Additionally BMW provided various different certificates validating its history, mileage, HPI status etc

The car itself has all of the Checkmate goodies plus the Harmon Kardon sound system, a handling kit (sports + suspension, CBC and some other acronyms that mean nothing to me) and an interior lighting package. It's a 2 owner car with full main dealer history and 46k on the clock, had a service in Sept last year (and has only done 400 miles since the service), plus new discs and a pads all round as well as 3 apparently new tyres.

I am sure that I could have saved a few hundred quid off the price by buying from a non-franchised dealer, but for peace of mind and a quality used MCS I was happy with the price.
